him/her to the nearest doctor. However, diarrhea treatment is not always about
taking pills and syrups, balanced food is also required.
There are few aspects knowing
which effectively you can reach decision in no time.
What is Diarrhea?
Diarrhea is a health condition
where frequent discharge of stool is natural and normal. Stools are irregular
and watery, loose and little stinking. Young infants go through irregular bowel
movements, often they release loose bowels, and often they do not release
bowels for days. However, bowel-releasing rate differs from one child to
another, so before reaching any conclusion you need to compare the consistency
and frequency of bowel movement of your kid. Diarrhea in infants is caused due to varying reasons like Food
poisoning, intolerance to certain foods, side effects of antibiotics and
allergic reactions.
Gastroenteritis
However, gastroenteritis is the
most common cause in diarrhea. Gastroenteritis is the viral infection of
intestine and stomach, which often causes acute gastroenteritis and it,
continues for a week. Often this infection induces vomiting along with watery
bowel. This infection often causes respiratory problems like earache, sore
throat and congestion. The infection could be viral as well as bacterial, in
most cases it is seen that the health recuperates on its own without involving
any specific treatment but when it comes to dehydration, the child needs to
drink as much fluid as possible. When diarrhea lasts for more than weeks it is
termed as chronic diarrhea and it may lead to weight loss and poor body growth.
Lactose intolerance along with sensitivity to protein and gluten may cause
diarrhea where loose, grey, and putrid stool together with excruciating stomach
pain occurs. However, the stomach pain
is nothing but intestine lining inflammation.
How to treat gastroenteritis
Diarrhea treatment should not be tried out individually, if you are
not having experience and knowledge, it may turn fatal. Make your child drink
sufficient water replete in sails and calories.
Make sure your child is drinking
enough liquids to replace the fluids, salts, and calories she is losing through
diarrhea. When the condition is deemed mild normal balanced diet can be
continued. During this phase, breast milk is necessary. Undiluted water and
milk, blueberry or carrot juices are
known to restrict diarrhea. Infants are
tend to lose stamina, so during this stage it is not good to feed them with
heavy calorie food rather meal should be determined as what doctor prescribes.
